Bombay Stock Exchange pricing data

Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 4:42 PM

We've just added support to Google Finance for Bombay Stock Exchange listings. In addition to news and descriptive data (which we already offer for these listings), you'll now see intra-day data and pretty charts. You can search for companies by name using the search box. You can also search by ticker -- for example, if you'd like to find the current price for stock in Reliance Power, you can search for it by name, as RPOL.BO, or as BOM:532939. Similarly, if you'd like to find the current price for stock in Zee Entertainment, you can search for it by name, as ZEE.BO, or as BOM:505537. The SENSEX can be found as .BSESN or ^BSESN. As always, if you find any problems, please let us know.

The 52 week High is wrong [probably lows too ]. For example look at this stock Ambuja Cements. The 52 week high, which you can see if you zoom to one year is 152.35. But what is shown as 52 week high in the summary is 87.90

Why not the Brazilian stock exchanges? They are now amongst the top-5 exchanges in the world!!!

Cool that we're getting more information, but why not more complete information!? Google finance still lacks dividend information!!! One of the companies used as an example in the blog post - Zee Entertainment pays a dividend but according to Google Finance there's no dividend. How is this useful for investors? And when are we going to be able to get Bollinger bands in the graphs?!

Its crap. particularly the fundamentals. even the basic data like 52 highs and lows are wrong.its very unfortunate to see this kind of the data from google. its a good effort though

Wow!!!, Finally we can put all the functionality to some use. I hope NSE will follow soon.

Finally, after a long wait...
But I am not sure why the data is showing incorrect?
For example in google finance, the stock SESAGOA, shows the 52 week high as below:
52Wk High: 3,880.00

Whereas on the Bombay Stock Exchange website it shows
52Wk High: 4390.00

I have gr8 expectations from Google Finance. Please do check out these bugs... And of course, NSE quotes are free on yahoo, so, what stops you guys from giving NSE quotes?

To add to my previous comment,
You guys should probably check out
thinkorswim.com

They have got some awesome features, especially when it comes to the derivatives market.

Great job guys, but I suggest that you prioritize the exchanges that you add according to some criteria like total market cap.

Using data for April from the World Federation of Stock Exchanges (http://www.world-exchanges.org/WFE/home.asp?menu=395), we can see that you don't have data for Tokio (ranked 2nd), Deutsche Borse (ranked 8th), Spain (ranked 10th), and Sao Paulo (ranked 11th).

On the other hand, you have data for Taiwan (ranked 20th), and New Zealand (ranked 46th)…

more thoughts...
I posted in another thread on how google could add more fundamental and technical analysis to the site.

I just had a great idea to how google could start eating into more of microsoft's domains.

Microsoft has Microsoft Money, a pretty cool tool for budgeting. What if Google integrated a budget planner, like google docs etc, where you can log on, and also update information live from your bank account (transactions, balance etc) like you can do from within microsoft money. It requires google to adapt to different security standards around the world, but it would be awesome to have that next yo your google calendar and mail and everything.

Before I set out to ask for more, I just wanted to say "Thank You" for this service.

As like many others, even my internet life revolves mostly around Google like gmail, reader, calendar, docs, notebook, picasa and so.

I trade mostly on NSE and it would be really great, if you can consider NSE also soon. Also, live pricing and information like dividends and stuff are very very important for investors.

Having experience with google in the last couple of years, I know things will go better every day. But generally, when it comes to Finance and Money related matters, people's patience levels are a bit low!

So, finally requesting you to consider NSE and better integration of Google Finance to its other services. Google Finance India all the way!

I must thanks to everyone at Google Finance and people who made BSE data available...

I am sure things will only get better in the coming days. Now seeing the BSE is so effective. For example i was just checking TATA AIG Life Insurance in google finance, the stock TATA AIG, shows the 52 week high as below:
52Wk High: 3,880.00

Whereas on the Bombay Stock Exchange website it shows
52Wk High: 4390.00

I am not sure why I get peculiar data. I have created Indian stock portfolio of BSE scrip ID such as 500002 or 500570. When I view them (My Portfolio Basic). I see two values regularly getting swapped in "Last Price" Column. It takes about 30 seconds for it to switch between the two values. The first is correct Last Price and second is a price that is generally much higher and does not change (compared to the first which correctly changes). I don't know what the second value is. Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Is the second value an error? Help.

Hi,
Mumbai bomb blast can be considered as one of the most horrible attack. Due to blast even Exchanges like Regards
BSE and NSE are kept closed for one day.
Now post attack we are getting news of resignations of various political leaders and officers. So is that another political move or there inner self is waking up??

What you have to say about it??, Looks like some political move is there!!

Now stock market will be affected by all political moves, though sentiments are not good but on technical charts market is quite bullish for very short term, still sentiments will effect Nifty movement. So all are advised to trade in small quantity and with strict stoploss till the picture is clear.

When will NSE/BSE stocks be available in the Stock Screener? Eagerly waiting for that as there are no stock screeners currently available for Indian mkts.

Google Rocks as always!!I'm amazed by the presentation. Can you folks come up with an offline tool to analyse data and give recommendations based on economic models?
