Today, we're pleased to extend the availability of real-time quotes on Google Finance, Google.com and other Google search properties to include companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). We've partnered with the NYSE on a pilot project that enables us to offer users free access to more real-time stock quotes. Now you can follow companies listed on both NASDAQ and NYSE in a streaming real-time fashion every second of every day -- well, at least while the market is open.
As you know, we worked with the NYSE and SEC last year to make this data more accessible to our users and we're happy to finally see it come to fruition. Our goal is to provide our users with the tools and content that help them manage their portfolios, stay informed about breaking market changes, and easily access the financial information they're looking for. Providing up-to-the-second market data from two of the largest exchanges in the US helps us achieve that goal.

This is a great feature! Are there plans to update the portfolio performance data also? Currently, the prices will update live, but all of the calculated totals require a page refresh before they update.
If I may, a quick suggestion on a few criteria that would be immensely helpful were they a part of the Google Stock Screener:
PE/10 - this is a standard Ben Graham/Warren Buffet criteria - defined as the current price divided by the company's average earnings over the last ten years; using the average over 10 years is much better than just one year's, as noted by Schiller etc, as it significantly filters out the noise.
Return on Assets - Another standard Buffet criteria, given in percentage terms; also is much more useful if it is the average return on assets over the past 5 or 10 years instead of just last year's return on assets.
Return on Equity - pretty much the same thing; again, using the average over 5 or 10 years filters out the noise.

My associates and I really like this feature as it seems to be more timely than our broker. It is important to us as we are about to enter or exit a trade that we are controlling manually.

Today, the Microsoft-owned in-game ad agency said that it has signed an exclusive multiyear agreement with Blizzard. On the google finance main page, 'Dow' index is not updated in real time while the others are - why?
PLease please do the same for the FTSE!
It is so invaluable being able to see real time quotes, I am glued to the US indexs in the afternoon but am delayed watching the UK Markets by 15minutes all day.
Any modern investor has to watch the world market. I need quotes for Amsterdam, Madrid and Lisbon. Yahoo gives it with a delay. Google doesn't at all.
Back to Yahoo Finance.
I wish Google would add a stock screener criteria for net change in $ (ie 0.05 or -0.05). This would seem to be helpful since the % change can send you all over the place due to the calculation. I have found the stock screener to be a great tool for compiling stock quotes. Thanks Google!
